Online Users Association to Exhibit at eBay Live Conference |
|
The Disabled Online Users Association (DOUA) will greet
visitors, mentors and new members in Booth #1022 at the eBay Live conference
in New Orleans in June. The conference is eBay's third event for buyers and
sellers that offers classes, tradeshow booths, and presentations by eBay
executives, including a keynote speech from President and CEO Meg Whitman. Marjie Smith, DOUA Founder and Executive Director, said
the DOUA is one of the first non-profits to exhibit at an eBay Live
Conference. The DOUA members will be handing out promotional bags and
explaining their mission of bringing hope and technology to the
differently-abled, and how they will expand their reach globally throughout
2004. The DOUA teaches individuals how to conduct profitable
ecommerce while working their own hours in a comfortable anonymous setting
among millions of other eBay sellers. DOUA mentors take clients through every
aspect of the eBay auction-selling process with an emphasis on how to set
prices, create and edit pictures, choose categories and write descriptions.
Clients also learn the after-auction requirements and shipping techniques,
with special emphasis on customer service. Marjie Smith is an eBay PowerSeller (Abovethemall) and
operates an eBay store as well as her own Web site. Before a debilitating
accident that left her in a wheelchair, Marjie was a physically active
full-time employee and single mother of two. As a differently-abled person,
she launched DOUA's "Helping Hands" to assist other people with
disabilities achieve success through one-on-one mentoring programs. Smith said individual and corporate sponsorship
opportunities are still available, request additional information at
sponsorship@doua.info. DOUA is a non-profit organization that exists thanks to
private donations, the support of AuctionEthics.com, and the help of
volunteers. To learn more about the DOUA, visit the Web site at http://www.doua.info or contact Marjie
